"I can't be late on my first day! I have to make a good impression!"

A flock of birds flew high into the air, spooked by the blur of blue that had just shot by them. It was only Rebecca Buchanan, her uniform not on properly, and her hair still a mess from bed. Her alarm clock had seemed to finally give out on the first morning of classes. She had planned on waking up a little earlier so she could navigate the hallways more easily, but now that was out of the question. Not to mention, being early would have put her in the good graces of her teachers. If there was one way to describe accurately Becca, it would be a good two-shoes. She herself was aware, and had accepted this fact. Better to be that than some class ditching delinquent.

Once the main building was in her sight, she paused to catch her breath. She hadn't realized just how far she'd been running. Finally adjusting her uniform properly, she once again slung her bag over her shoulder and strolled coolly toward the crowd of students. A few giggles could be heard from beside her, causing Becca to turn her head toward the source. A group of Japanese girls were pointing at her hair and giggling to themselves. Becca could feel her face growing redder and redder with anger.

They have the nerve to laugh at me? At ME?! Have they looked in the mirror?! I didn't, and i still am at least ten times prettier than they are. I-I shouldn't bother... I can't make a bad impression on my first day. Nope. No sirree.

Forcing the most plastic smile she could form, Becca grinned at the girls and smoothed out her flyaways. The girls quickly shuffled on ahead, catching onto the building tension in the air. Her grin shifted to that of a smug one, feeling she had won the battle. Or at least, for the time being. Just up ahead, it looked like the teachers were allowing the final bunch of students in before locking the gates shut.

"OH NO YOU DON'T! A BUCHANAN IS NEVER TARDY!" she screeched, making a full sprint toward the gates and shoving aside anyone in her way.

She was almost home free, she could taste it. That was, until she collided with a student's back, throwing her right on her butt. Her rage from earlier had been renewed, and this student was going to have to be the target.

"HEY NOW! Why would you just stand there in the way? Can't you see the gates are gonna be closed any moment now?!" she quizzed, not realizing how much more time and breath she was wasting.

"Did Setsuko want me to talk to the judo club or the soccer club today??? Ugh, I totally whiffed and forgot my notes at home. Boy, if I mess this up today I'll never hear the end of it."

Reid Legato was clearly preoccupied with a lot of things on his mind. We he had first agreed to sign on as the vice president of the student council a week ago he assumed it would be a rather easy position, more title than work. He had quickly learned how wrong that assumption had been, what with the meetings and planning that had to be done. It didn't help that Setsuko, the class president, rarely tided up the council room; leaving Reid the arduous task of filing away forms and straightening up everyday. She was truly a red whirlwind of energy, none of it devoted to keeping the place in shape. Add those duties to his homework, class time and training back on the base and Reid was beyond pooped.

All of this extra work would come in handy soon. Reid had recently delivered a note to the headmistress' office detailing an extended absence he was taking to help with a Britannian Military operation. His teachers were to be told that he was entering a hospital back at the mainland for treatment. He had managed to get Setsuko to believe this s well, in exchange for completing the work he would miss while he was gone. it was this extra load that had caused the mentally taxed Reid to stop in the middle of the rather crowded walk way and ponder what exactly he was supposed to be doing after classes today.

Flinging him from his thoughts was a rather solid thud that collided with his back, followed by a light grunt behind him. Turning around he noticed a rather petite Britannian girl sitting on the ground, furiously venting at him. As the girl went on her tirade the steely glares of various other female students tore into her like daggers through flesh. Ignoring the other students Reid quickly apologized, saying "I'm so sorry! It was entirely my fault seeing as I was so preoccupied with my schedule for the day. Here, let me help you up."

In one sudden motion Reid had swept the blue girl off the ground and cradled her in his arms, much to the disgust of her fellow female students. After entering the gates and setting her down, Reid stuck out a hand and said "I'm sorry, I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting. I'm Reid Legato, and you are? Some form of noblewoman I'd assume."

He then waited for a response to his inquiry

Much to her surprise, the boy she'd bumped into had fully taken responsibility for the collision. Not only that but he had scooped her up and carried her on through the gates. She could feel her face growing more and more crimson with every step. This was not how she'd planned it in the slightest. Once she was finally set down, Becca struggled to look the boy in the eyes, keeping her gaze lowered to the ground. Once she was able to finally look up, she was met with a friendly gaze from eyes a deep hue of purple. The boy looked to be a few years older, and clearly Britannian. Judging from his friendliness, she felt that he was likely someone who easily made friends. No different from her obviously.

"A-Ah... you didn't really have to do that much. Just helping me off the ground was fine enough. A-Anyway! I guess I'm sorry, it was my fault for running anyway."

Rebecca cleared her throat and dusted off her clothes. Upon finally noticing the boy had extended his hand for her to shake it, she immediately grasped it and shook it vigorously.

"I'm new here, and I really didn't want to be late. So, that's why i ended up bumping into you like that. I'm Rebecca Buchanan, the only daughter of the distinguished Buchanan household!" she exclaimed with pride, drawing in scoffs and glares from her surrounding peers.

Gazing down at her watch, she gasped and rushed on up ahead. Once reaching the doors, she turned back toward her newfound friend. It would be in her best interests if she stuck with this young man.

"Ah! I'm assuming you aren't new like me. Would you be able to escort me for the time being?"

Upon hearing the girl's surname Reid couldn't place where he had heard it, although it was certainly familiar. Judging by the air and grace with which Miss Buchanan spoke Reid's hunch of nobility was right on the money. No doubt some aristocrat's daughter getting her first glimpse at the world away from the mainland. Ashford had quite a few of them. Reid had a deep hope that this world exposure would help his generation foster more of a tolerance and understanding for other nations than their parents had.

Returning attention to the gentle voiced girl Reid noted that she was indeed a new student, hence her rushing to make it through the gate. smiling, he said "Well let me be the first to welcome you to Ashford Academy. Just keep being as kind as you are and I'm sure you'll make friends in no time." Reid had noticed that the majority of Ashford's denizens were pretty mild mannered. Outside of explosive personalities like Wendy, Liz and Setsuko most of the students passed through their days as quietly as they could. It seemed that most of them believed that not standing out was in their best interests.

At Rebecca's suggestion Reid nodded and said "That sounds like a great idea. I can help you find some of the more difficult to locate classrooms. I've only begun attending Ashford myself recently but I like to think I know my way around by now. Do you go by Rebecca or do you have anything that you prefer to be called? Also, have you received your class schedule yet?" He said all of this as the pair made haste through the doors, taking care not to dally.

"I should add, the student council president hates tardiness and ditching from the student body so keep those activities to a minimum lest she comes to punish you. You DO NOT want to be on her bad side."

Becca clasped her hands together, nearly dropping her school bag in the process. She figured this "Reid Legato" wouldn't let her wander the halls alone after hearing what her surname was. As the two entered the building, Becca felt a bit taken back by the decor. It was surely something that resembled schools from the homeland. She had found herself even more impressed with the main building than she had been when she'd first seen the dorms. How could a school this nice house some...unsavory students? From her research on the school, she could tell this was once a place of prestige. What had it turned to now? She honestly found herself scared to find out. Nevertheless, she had to get to class. Hearing Reid ask if there was another name she would prefer to be called by.

"Only my close friends and family call me 'Becca', but you can do that too if you'd like. I've got my schedule somewhere in this bag...hold on juuuuuuust a moment." she chimed before rummaging through her bag.

After some shuffling, she pulled out a crumpled piece of paper and scanned its contents. It seems that her first class was...

"It seems to be math class? I truly loathe mathematics. Judging from what this paper says, it seems to be on one of the upper floors? I hope you have the same class, I wouldn't want you to be late on your own trying to guide me. Here, have a look for yourself."

She handed her crinkled sheet of paper to Reid and took a gander at her surroundings. It had just hit her that he'd mentioned something about the student council. She wondered if she should join the one at this school. After all, she'd been the longest serving student council president at her old school. No one dared to run against her once they heard a Buchanan was running, after all.

"Do you know the President here personally? From what you've described, I can tell I'd get along with this person very well. Punctuation and organization are key to success!"

As she exclaimed this, she thrust her index finger into the air, causing her bag to slip from her grasp. Its contents spewed all over the floor, sending papers floating here and there. Students, not caring about the events or not even paying attention, stepped over her belongings as if they were never there. Scowling, Becca scrambled to pick up her things.

"Ingrates! Pay attention to what you're stepping on!"

"Becca eh? That's cute." Reid said as he waited for the blue haired girl to produce her schedule. Upon receipt of the schedule Reid glanced at it and confirmed Becca's hunch. "Yeah, that one's gonna be up the stairs on the right and down that hall."

Becca then worried that Reid would be late to his own class while helping her find hers. With a smile Reid noted "It just so happens that I do have this class. I'm not very good at math so I was placed in this class for the time being. if you'd like we can stop into the office after class and get you a map, there was supposed to be one that came with your schedule when you registered but it appears to be missing."

When asked if he knew the president personally Reid responded "Yeah, I work with her. She's not quite as bad as a lot of the other students would have you believe. She's a wildfire of personality though. I think you'd definitely get along with her. Feel free to come to the Student Council Room after school if you'd like to learn more about it."

Suddenly Becca's bag flew off her finger and began scattering its contents across the floor. As fellow students walked past, and on, her belongings Reid could tell that Becca was beginning to get annoyed. Helping her to recollect everything he whispered "Hey, I know it can be tough adjusting to Japan. They do things a little differently here than we're all accustomed to on the mainland. Just try not to let everything get to you and do the best you can to become acclimated. I promise you'll have a much less stressful time that way."

As he finished gathering up Becca's items he spotted a picture among the papers. Taking a look his eyes widened slightly. Handing the items back to Becca he said "I didn't know you were a part of THAT Buchanan household! Your father is General Rias D. Buchanan? I've read his fi... I've read about him in a book. He was one of the best to ever wear the Britannian Uniform. Everyone was surprised when he decided to retire from service. You certainly come from a prestigious lineage."

That was close. Reid had almost let a bit more slip than he was ready to reveal. Just because she was new didn't mean that Reid shouldn't suspect Becca of BRL ties. The daughter of a former general would be a perfect target for the talent starved organization. He'd keep an eye on her just like everyone else within Ashford.

Taking a look at his watch, Reid said "We'll have to hurry soon, if there's this many people congregating in the hall it can only mean that they're gonna start heading to class soon."

Becca wasn't sure if this boy was genuinely friendly, or if he just happened to say all of the right things to her. Either way, it was nice to finally have someone to talk to. Ever since she'd arrived here, she felt isolated. Everyone else here had likely been friends for such a long time, and she had nobody in this foreign land. The thought of how lonely she was caused her to curse her parents in her mind. For the first time, she wasn't sure of whether or not she should go along with their orders. Nevertheless, it seems that this boy was willing to be her friend, so she would take anything she could get at this point. Someone as handsome as Reid was just a bonus, of course. She would also be sure to visit the student council room after her classes were through. It would look great on her record if she were to join. Not to mention she would probably make more friends by being on the council.

"Splendid! I was hoping I would make friends with someone in the same classes as me. You being in my first just takes a huge weight off my shoulders. And don't worry, if you need any help with you homework, you can count on me! I was always the first in my class back home. No one could hold a candle to this brain. gloated Becca, triumphantly thumping her index finger against her noggin.

Scooping up the remainder of papers from the floor, she felt taken aback by Reid's kindness. He had whispered words of encouragement to her. Not only that, but he had gone through the trouble of helping her collect her belongings. In the process, he seemed to have seen a family photo she'd been carrying around. A bit embarrassed, she quickly grasped the photo from his hands, a hue of crimson creeping upon her features. She wondered if he thought she was immature for carrying something around like that. However, it seems that he was even more impressed with her, finally realizing just whose household she'd come from.

"Yes! Why, I thought I already mentioned my name. Just the sound of it in the homeland draws gasps. Both of my parents served with pride, though my mother was just a chef. My father was getting older, so he decided to pass the torch. As much as he wanted it to go to me, he feels a young lady like myself shouldn't be wielding a gun." she admitted, feeling even more embarrassed for sharing such details.

Snapping her out of her flustered state was the realization that they were indeed going to be late if they continued to dawdle in the hallway. Nodding along with Reid's words, she let him lead the way to their math class. The classroom was big, bright, and definitely not disappointing. It seems this school prided itself when it came to its architecture. Rebecca weaved her way through the sea of students and claimed a seat right next to the windows. The sun was shining right on her, causing her to sigh in delight. After shutting her eyes, she realized the sunlight she'd been bathing in had suddenly vanished. Opening her eyes revealed a rather angry Japanese girl, glaring down at Becca.

"Um, you're sitting in my seat..."

Becca searched around the desk in a 360 degrees fashion.

"I'm sorry, but I don't see a name written on here. And quite frankly, I'm very tired. Couldn't you scoot on to the back of the class somewhere? I want this seat." she snarled.

Rebecca and the girl were shooting daggers at one another; neither refusing to give a single inch.

Reid Legato
~AVENGER~

Upon reaching their first class of the day Reid began to take out his materials and prepare for the period. No sooner had he turned his head then he looked back to see Becca getting into it with yet another student. Reid had seriously begun to think that she was incapable of connecting with a single person other than himself.

Intervening, he walked over to the girl and said ”Ah, Mamori! Might I say you’re looking lovely today? Did you do something new with your hair?” As the girl swooned he continued ”You know? I think the sun would shine on it just right if you grabbed that back seat near the window. Yeah, that one over there. You’d better hurry though!” As the girl made haste to the seat he had pointed out he turned his attention back to Becca.

”You know, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. If you don’t use a bit of homeland diplomacy you’re never going to make it here. I though you noblewomen were all about grace and class? Or has the mainland done away with manners?” He then chuckled to himself. It seemed like he’d have to show Becca Buchanan the ropes of being a Britannian in Japan.

It was funny that Reid would address Becca as nobility for he had grown up in the high class ranks of Britannia for most of his adolescent life. He doubted many even remembered the Legato name after the disgrace they had been dealt. At one point it was one of the highest households in the land. He could still remember his mother’s lessons on etiquette and poise. They guided him in his everyday life even now, almost a decade later.

Returning to the present time, Reid smiled at Becca before saying ”If you need anything I’m only a holler away.” and taking his seat.

Rebecca watched as Reid swiftly defused the situation between she and the Japanese girl. She had begun to take notice of Reid's character and his use of words with women and compared it to their first greeting. She wondered if this guy was really just a smooth talking womanizer. The reactions of the female students only further proved her theory. She couldn't blame them for swooning, but she decided it would be best to keep an eye on this Reid Legato. After all, if she wasn't careful, she would end up like that pitiful Japanese girl, melting into a pile of mush and letting go of all her pride.

"I see you're using the sweetest honey to catch those flies, no? And I told you I'm not a noblewoman, I just come from a prestigious household. If I see something I want, I take it. And I won't hold back my true personality just to pander to a bunch of ele- ... Japanese people."

She quickly turned away from her escort, feeling he had probably caught onto what she was about to say. When at home, saying such things were normal. However, it was obviously for the best that she refer to elevens as the Japanese. It was hard for her considering how much the word came out of her father's mouth. She ignored the stares from her peers, choosing to instead take out her materials and pray that the teacher doesn't ask her to come to the front of the class to introduce herself.

A few minutes later, a rather short, balding man of Britannian descent shuffled into the classroom and placed his briefcase atop his desk. He greeted the class, scanned their faces, and immediately fixed his gaze upon Becca. She jolted up under his gaze, but soon after began to sink lower into her seat.

Please don't. Please don't. Please-

"Class! We have a new student joining us today from Britannia. I hope you all will treat her kindly from today onward. Rebecca, come up and introduce yourself."

Reluctantly, she shuffled on up to the front of the class and sighed. Usually, she didn't mind such interactions, but she just felt as if she'd made the worst impression possible. How would she ever make friends in this school. Her gaze shifted to Reid for a moment, but then quickly away to the rest of the class.

"Errr, hello everyone. My name is Rebecca Buchanan, and I've just moved about a week ago. Pleasetreatmekindlythankyou." she stammered, stating the last sentence without even taking a breath.

She rushed to her seat and placed her head down in embarrassment.

As Becca sized Reid up he became increasing intrigued as to what exactly was going on underneath that messy pile of blue hair. She seemed as though she was quickly forming an opinion on the young Britannian, though Reid couldn't exactly point to which way that opinion was leaning. As Becca described her methods of dealing with people Reid's mouth twisted into a devious smile. Pressing his advantage he said "I only say what makes the situation as pleasant as possible. Careful how you speak Becca, if the right people hear you it wouldn't be hard for them to assume you might be part of the Restoration. I've already seen how they look at someone else who thinks like you. Trust me, you don't want those problems."

Soon enough, class had begun and Becca was called up to introduce herself to the class. In an instant she changed from the fiery woman that was quick to grab whatever she desired into a completely timid and docile student. Predictably the rest of the class paid no mind to her while she wasn't insisting on insulting them at every turn. This caused a sigh of relief to emerge from Reid. She might be just fine at Ashford if she could keep the attention off of herself. The rest of class went fairly routine and before long the bell rang and the first class was over.

After packing up his belongings, Reid stood and walked over to Becca's desk. Looking down to her he asked "So, everything go good with the first class? Ashford's curriculum definitely stands up to those back in the Homeland, does it not? Anyway, we've got a bit of time before our next classes so I figured I'd show you to the garden if you're interested. Its one of the most peaceful spots on campus and definitely one of the best places to go if you've got free time to kill."

He turned and gazed out of the nearby window while waiting for Becca to answer. He still couldn't remember exactly who he was supposed to be talking to for the student council but he was sure it'd come back to him sooner or later. It had better for his sake.

Much to her chagrin, it Reid had picked up on exactly what she was about to let slip out of her mouth. However, he seemed to find the whole thing amusing rather than be as outraged as she figured he would. One thing she already knew was to not let it slip that her father had joined the resistance force. She didn't really have much of an opinion about it, she just didn't want him to get himself killed over this. That, of course, meant that she too needed to act just as Reid had suggested. Rebecca smacked her lips in annoyance and readied her reply.

"Even so, I-I refuse to change who I am to appease these people. Not like I wanted to be here to begin with."

For the remainder of the class, Rebecca kept her head low, and her nose stuck in her Algebra book. To her relief, Ashford seemed to be behind what she'd already been taught in the homeland. Or perhaps they were just doing things in different order? She wasn't sure, but she felt so relieved that she could make it through the class with little difficulties. She wondered why Reid had been struggling with this material in the first place. Class had seemed to fly by decently fast. Because she'd crammed in so many extra credits, at the advice of her father of course, she didn't have too many classes to attend here in Ashford. Just as Becca expected, Reid had shuffled over to her desk once the lecture had wrapped up. However, it wasn't to continue their previous altercation, but to invite her to the school's garden.

"Oh, is that where you take all the girls after meeting them? If so, that would explain why you're failing in math. It's nothing that hasn't already been taught in the homeland. she teased, stacking her books into a neat pile and slipping them into her school bag.

A few girls nearby glanced in Rebecca's direction rather longingly, but averted their gaze once she took notice of it. She raised an eyebrow, then realized that they had been eavesdropping in on her conversation with Reid. Becca scoffed, feeling no one should fawn over some mere boy like that. Where was their pride? Their dignity? She felt like playing around with her new classmates and grinding on their nerves a bit. A smirk similar to the one Reid had given her prior to class crept upon her features. She slipped her arm around Reid's, so that they were linked together.

"Hey, hey, when's your lunch? We should sit together!" she chimed rather loudly, causing the girls to smack their lips.

Rebecca snickered and slung her school bag over her shoulder, waiting for Reid to lead the way.

When Becca teased Reid about bringing dates to the garden his face converted to a deep shade of red.

"N-No! Its nothing like that! hahaha, I just think its a nice looking spot on campus! Lots of people go there!" Reid nervously spat out while rubbing the back of his head with his hand. He was never quite sure why but girls always seemed to fluster him so much. He could talk to them just fine but the thought of being anything more with them was enough to make him warm in the face.

Regaining a slight bit of his composure Reid said "As for math, I've always
been better with it in application as opposed to theory. Sadly, school is all theory. This is the only class I'm behind in though!"

It didn't help that his military duties kept Reid from completing the majority of his studies. A lot of the older soldiers around the base often made fun of Reid as he attempted to complete his homework assignments in the mess hall at dinner time. He'd often fallen asleep at his desk, drool spreading over his papers.

It appeared that Becca couldn't handle not antagonizing the rest of her female classmates and she quickly intertwined her arm with Reid's while suggesting that they share lunch. As the other girls stared on with venom pouring from their gazes Reid could only turn deep red again.

"Ummm, is it a bit warm in here? I mean, t-this is all so sudden! I guess we c-c-could have lunch together! Um, my lunch hour is a-after my next class."

Deciding to shut up and get out of the situation Reid lead Becca down the hall and out of the building. They soon emerged into an immaculately kept garden. The crowned jewel of Ashford's grounds keeping crew, the garden contained just bout every flower imaginable; all of them in such an unnatural state of bloom. The perimeter was surrounded by a well manicured wall of hedges. A multitude of students meandered around the open expanse, conversing in grounds of friends or lazily bathing in the sun.

Smiling, Reid asked "Well, what do you think of this? I told you it was well worth the trip. I love coming here when I need to get away from it all."

Reid's reaction was nothing short of hilarious to her. He quickly shifted from smooth talker, to nervous wreck in an instant. How was this the same guy who had dissolved that argument before class? This was no good, Becca loved to bully people this amusing.

"Oh, perfect~! My lunch is also after my next class. It's a date then." she declared.

Once the duo finally reached the garden, Becca found herself in awe. Although this garden was on a much grander scale, she was instantly reminded of her home. Her mom grew the same sorts of flowers every spring in her garden. A twinge of homesickness suddenly swept over her, causing her to unlink her arm from Reid's. She eagerly moved forward to an elegant section of blooming white roses.

"These are my mother's favorite, so they've grown on me as well. My father would always send them home to her while away. When you send someone a white rose, it typically means that you're on their mind. It was always so romantic to me. However, I'd prefer..."

Rebecca scanned the area to see if they were currently growing the flower she had in mind. Her eyes lit up upon discovering just what she had been looking for. With an equal amount of eagerness from earlier, she made her way to bush of orange hued roses.

"These right here. My mom told me that these reminded her of me whenever she saw them. I'm not quite sure why, and she just laughs whenever I ask her about it. I don't really mind, they remind me of the sunsets in Britannia. I wonder if I'd get scolded for taking one of these. They're really blooming well here."

It wasn't until she finished her last sentence did she realize she had been going on about herself this entire time. Not only that, but Reid probably had no interest in botany or gardening.

"Ah! I'm sorry about that! I keep talking about myself and the homeland. I can see why so many people are hanging around here. Is there any particular flower you can relate with? Or perhaps one that's just your favorite?" she inquired, turning her attention away from the roses and back to her escort.

She felt it would be a waste to not take one of the roses for herself. After placing her index finger over her lips, she gently grabbed the prettiest rose from the bunch.

~AVENGER~

Reid was certain Becca was teasing him with her date comment but nevertheless it caused him to turn an intense shade of crimson anyway. This girl seemed to love picking on him, though he couldn't quite understand why.

It was all worth it to watch the giddy blue haired girl spring from bush to bush around the garden. This was usually what comforted all new students when they arrived on Ashford's campus, it had certainly helped him ease his transition here.

As Becca described the meaning of the various flowers she liked Reid couldn't help but smile. He enjoyed it when people talked at length about the things they enjoyed. If someone launched into a full blown conversation regarding their hobby it brought him great joy.

Rebecca must have realized she was doing most of the talking for she quickly apologized for bending Reid's ear so much with tales of her home life.

"No, its perfectly fine. I forget how... Involved life with family can be. Its good that you can have so many awesome connections to home here in the garden. Now I'll know where to find you if I'm ever looking for you!" Reid said

As she bent down to take a rose Reid wasn't exactly sure what the policies on that were. He assumed the Headmistress wouldn't have minded if students took a couple blooms here and there so he said nothing. Striding to the girl, Reid took the orange bloom from the girls hands and affixed it to her hair, the blue marrying the flower's hue perfectly. Smiling, he said "There. That's the perfect compliment for your hair! Just make sure you leave a few for the rest of the students."

When asked if he had a favorite flower Reid thought for a moment and then strode over to a patch of ground with bright pink and white flowers growing from it. The flowers were one of the few things Reid could remember about his childhood home at this point. His mother had insisted upon having them placed all throughout the house and their overpowering fragrance could be smelt no matter which hall you went down.

Turning towards Becca, Reid said "I think my mother called them Stargazer Lilies. I don't think they had a special meaning but they remind me of her. I was happy to find them here in the garden and I come to visit them whenever I need a moment to think."

Becca tilted her head at one of Reid's comments. He mentioned forgetting about how involved family life could be. She wondered if that meant he wasn't close with his own family at the moment? Or worse, what if something had happened to them? As curious as Rebecca was, even she knew it wasn't polite to ask about someone's past like that; Especially considering the two had just met each other. Even if she wanted to, Reid had left no window open for her to ask. Before she knew it, the boy had strolled over, stolen her orange rose, and gently placed it in her hair. The entire motion caused a pang in her chest. It was something her father did whenever she brought him flowers from the garden. She found it hard to meet Reid's gaze, her face turning a slight tint of crimson once more. Much to her relief, the boy had shuffled away to another patch of flowers, allowing her some time to regain her composure. Last thing she needed was for someone to see her in such a state, let alone Reid.

Much to her surprise, Reid also had a mother who enjoyed gardening. The particular flower patch he was standing near was familiar to her as well. They were beautiful, but definitely something she couldn't touch. She was reminded of this upon stepping closer to the patch, which in turn caused her to sneeze. The memory of her first encounter with them made her giggle to herself.

"Ah, I remember these. I thought they were really pretty as a child, so i picked all of my neighbors lilies out of their garden. By the time I ran home, my hands were all red, and I couldn't stop sneezing. My mother didn't get the chance to scold me because she freaked out and ran me to the doctor. It's a shame, they're beautiful, but I can't touch them. Your mother had truly good taste."

Sniffling, Rebecca made her way over to a large tree and sat under its shade.

"Okay Reid, would you like that math tutoring for here, or to go?" she inquired, pulling out a few of her notebooks.
