Chase LeRouge
Handsome Devil

Easy does it, Chase. No point dying after having come this far…

Chase wiped the sweat from his brow, took a deep breath and kept his shaky hands steadily on the controls of his Vincent Sky. The Britannian Military’s base wasn’t far from his present location. So long as he continued to stay away from any trouble, he estimated he could get there, drop off his ‘cargo’ and return in time to help Reid, Lumen and the rest of his allies back in Paris. The ongoing battle appeared to be a stalemate thus far. The second he could, he intended to turn the tide in his side’s favor and stop all this needless bloodshed.

But first things first! How we doing back there, ladies? Nice and comfortable I hope?

He leered behind him, warmly smiling at the handcuffed pair of Britannian Restoration League soldiers in his midst. Dragging them back to base was a pain sure, but Chase found it hard to complain being in the presence of two beautiful women. Then again, one of them seemed like she was ready to rip the head off the next individual unfortunate enough to step in her path. The other, meanwhile, had been shot in the only flesh and blood arm she had left. Chase tended to the wound to the best of his ability, removing the bullet, cleaning and even dressing it. He was no doctor, however, meaning he desired to get her to a real one as soon as possible.

...Look, I’ve been meaning to ask you two something,” he said in the most casual tone he could think of. “Why are you two with the BRL anyway? You know they’re the bad guys, right? I get there are a lot of Britannians out there who are upset with how things turned out way back in the day, but...don’t you think it was for the better? Rather than being a country and people that are hated, we should be the ones defending the weak and innocent! Going back to our old ways won’t benefit anyone! While I don’t fully agree on how Zero and the Black Knights went about getting Japan back, they at least had good intentions. How about you guys, huh? You just want to make things miserable for everyone again just to sate your own selfish egos.

Chase shook his head and sighed. He really didn’t see the point of it all. Now wasn’t the time to argue over ideals, however. His radio came to life, picking up an unfamiliar voice. Anyone with half a brain could tell the woman speaking wasn’t anyone on the Britannian Military’s side. She was making demands, and they included the location of a certain Knightmare carrying two particular individuals.

Oh, shit! She’s talking about us, isn’t she?! Doesn’t that means she’s back with Legato and Lumen…?

He wasn’t sure who the girl threatened to shoot was or if her claim about strapping bombs to civilians was true. Regardless, Chase found himself in a conundrum. If the terrorist really was threatening Reid and Lumen, he needed to go back for sure and save them. Still, he couldn’t just give into their demands and hand the BRL operatives over. He would be the laughing stock of the Britannian Military. The worry eating at him showed on his face, distracting him from his piloting and his surroundings.

Just what the hell is going on?!

Wendy gazed at the handcuffs binding her arms, wishing she could melt them with her cold stare alone. She wasn’t dead, but she surmised she may as well have been considering she was now a prisoner of the Britannian Military. Being incarcerated or even executed would do nothing to help her kill Zero and finally get revenge for her family. In anger, she slammed her fist against a nearby wall and bit her bottom lip. She had to think of a way to escape and fast. There was no telling how much longer it would take LeRouge to get back to the Britannian base.

I’ve gotta find some way to contact my people! If I could just use the communication system on this Knightmare…!

Firstly, she would have to find a way to break free from her restraints. Grunting as she reached up toward her head, she managed to retrieve the hairpin holding her blonde hair up into a ponytail. With the help of her teeth, she managed to form it in the shape of something that could fit in the keyhole of her handcuffs. Now all she had to do was try not to draw any attention.

She jumped in fright when LeRouge spoke out of the blue. Hastily hiding her makeshift key behind her back, she listened as the man asked her something she was quite tired of hearing at this point: her reasons for joining the Britannian Restoration League. She didn’t owe him or anyone else an explanation, yet she couldn’t remain quiet when he dared say that Zero actually had ‘good intentions’ when he formed the Black Knights.

What the hell do you know?! You’re just a Britannian puppet, no different from that spoiled Empress of yours! And idiots like you dare to call yourselves Britannians! We’re different from you! We remember our roots! The moment you all in the homeland sided with that Zero bastard was the day you signed your death sentences! I won’t show any mercy to anyone who freely chooses to ally themselves with someone like him!

Wendy wasn’t sure why she was wasting her breath. She didn’t have time to fool around with the likes of a traitorous Britannian. It was the same for her fellow BRL member, the girl whose name she neglected to ask. As Chase went back to piloting the Knightmare, Wendy inched closer to this woman.

Hey, you. ...It doesn’t really mean much right now, but...thanks. You really saved my skin back there. I’m Wendy, Wendy Stalingrad. If we make it outta this alive somehow, I owe you a home cooked meal. I might not look it, but I’m a bit of a whiz in the kitchen. Er...forget about that right now. I’ll try to get us outta here. Just watch my back.

No sooner did she go back to clumsily working the hairpin inside the handcuffs’ lock did she overhear someone speaking over the Vincent Sky’s comm system. Wendy had no clue who was doing the talking, yet she cracked a smile at what they were saying. Even without any names being mentioned, she knew exactly who was about to get their brains blown out.

To think someone actually saw what happened and is trying to save us. Oh, please tell me that Lumen asshole is already dead! Well, whatever the case, I guess I owe that girl some food too.

LeRouge looked to be torn about something. Not that Wendy cared. No, she took far more notice to the fact he was no longer paying his prisoners any mind. With newfound vigor, she hurried to free herself, sensing the opportunity to strike.

Good!” She succeeded after much trial and error. With full use of her arms, she quickly rushed over to her ally and got rid of her handcuffs as well. “Alright, now’s our chance! We take that guy down and use his Knightmare to get the hell out of here, alright?!

Cirrus had blacked out from pain and exhaustion after her hand had been handcuffed to her belt. She couldn’t remember anything from when Chase had cuffed her and The other BRL woman. She just remembered suddenly coming to with a stabbing pain in her shoulder from where the bullet had been extracted. Cirrus jumped suddenly when the Britannian soldier suddenly spoke. She let out a gasp of pain from her shoulder at her involuntary movement. She glared up at him.

“Yeah, I’m just comfortable with my arm shot and handcuffed,” She shouted at him before turning her body away and facing her fellow BRL soldier, She listened to the young girl and smiled at her words, While she didn’t fully agree with her, she did agree with hating the homeland for joining with Zero and Black Knights.

Cirrus continued to smile at the girl had just identified as Wendy, The one armed girl wished she wasn’t in the cuffs so she could give the young woman a hug.

“I’m Cirrus Azure, and I’m sorry my rescue didn’t go so well, But I’ll hold you to that home cooked meal. I’ll make sure to now help us get out of this alive and hopefully not get us killed or captured once more.”

Cirrus suddenly turn towards the radio and heard the talk of strapping bombs to civilians, she scoffed slightly at the cheap trick. Her attention was drawn away from the radio after she heard the soft clicking of Wendy’s handcuffs unlocking followed by her Unlocking the handcuffs that binded her.

Cirrus grinned at Wendy, “You know it would have been easier to take off my belt,” She jokingly said while testing the movement range of her injured arm. She found that she could at least move her elbow with fall range of movement, but her shoulders range was limited to small and slow movements, if she didn’t want to open the wound again. It was all the movement she needed in order to pull out the butterfly knife that rested in her pocket and was thankfully never found by the Britannian soldiers.

“So do you think we can take him?”

Chase LeRouge
Handsome Devil

There were no further communications from the BRL woman claiming to have hostages. Chase, his face frozen with fear, wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not. It hardly mattered. He shook the idea of his friends being in danger out of his mind. He had to get these two prisoners back to base no matter what it took. A bead of sweat rolled down his chin as he thought, “I can’t screw this up…” Reid and Lumen were counting on him.

Well, you ladies have been awfully quiet back there! I have a bunch of sisters back in the homeland that do nothing but gossip, so I was expecting…

By the time he turned his head, it was too late. An arm wrapped its way around his throat like an anaconda and began squeezing down with deadly force. His bloodshot eyes quickly spotted the autopilot button, and he pressed it without delay. With no fear of his Knightmare crashing, he shifted his full attention to his attacker. He wasn’t all that astonished to see it one one of his supposed prisoners, Stalingrad to be exact. How she managed to escape was on his mind, although he guessed this really wasn’t the time. He could feel himself slipping away with every second that ticked by.

N-Not bad, but…!

No amount of military training in the world could overcome the weight difference between them. Being far larger than Stalingrad, Chase used his extra weight to toss her back toward her accomplice as if she were a feather blown by the wind.

I-I don’t mind getting physical with a pretty girl like you, but...that’s going too far!” he remarked, gasping and holding his reddened neck. It was then he noted the one armed girl was holding something rather sharp and pointy. “...Not good. L-Let’s just take it easy, alright? I bruise like a peach!

The situation was poor for him indeed. Stalingrad he could handle alone, he was sure of. Trying not to get stabbed in the process was another matter entirely though. Both girls looked more than ready to take him down given the chance. He smacked his lips, realizing he had to get just as serious.

Okay, how about we do things like this then?” Drawing his sidearm, he pointed it at the two femme fatales, his finger dancing around the trigger. “If I have to put one or two in your kneecaps to get you ladies to behave, don’t think I won’t.

Cirrus kept quiet and grinned to herself as Wendy snuck up behind Chase and wrapped her arm around the Britannian soldier. The one armed girl quietly chuckled and was about to follow through and stab chase with her knife, when Wendy was suddenly thrown back into her left side. She winced as she was forced back by the weight of the Britannian girl and her wound threatened to reopen. Cirrus glared at Chase with an annoyed stare.

“I’m going to more than bruise you, I’m going to make you bleed,”
Cirrus was about to rush towards Chase and quickly stab him with the knife, She immediately reconsidered when the Britannian soldier drew the gun and aimed it towards her and Wendy. She stared at the gun with slight fear in her eyes, She had already been shot once and she didn’t want to make it twice in one day.

Cirrus tightened her grip around her knife and groaned in annoyance as she slowly started to lower the weapon, while giving Wendy a quick glance. She quickly found herself admire the looks of her fellow BRL soldier and let out a pained groan, she couldn’t let someone as pretty as Wendy get injured in battle. Cirrus turned back to Chase scowled towards him before quickly speaking.

“Come on, a soldier like you wouldn’t shoot an unarmed prisoner and a girl with only one arm, that’s just not noble at all. Now how about you just bring this knightmare frame down and let us go,” Cirrus started slowly raising her arm getting ready to throw the knife in her hand, She at least hope she’d either do damage to Chase or the console of the knightmare, “It’s not like either of us can do much,” She brings the knife up with a grin on here face and throws it in Chase's general direction.

Lumen es Britannia
Fallen Prince

Lumen's knightmare frame tore through the skies in pursuit of Chase. Things hadn't gone exactly how he wanted them to back there, in fact they had went completely south. Not long after Luna appeared on the scene, a large squadron of knightmare frames decided to crash the party. With no time to spare, Lumen had to make a hasty retreat.

"I have to wonder what is going through those wretched, asinine minds of yours."

He had to wonder why such a large squadron of Knightmare frames appeared just to deal with two people. It wasn't like they were that big of a threat. His first assumption was that they somehow knew his identity as a prince and were coming to retrieve him, but the matter of Luna having no qualms with putting a bullet through his skull put the clinkers to that idea. The fact that there were no enemies pursuing him only served as further testament to the fact that they weren't after him this time around.

Naturally, he could only assume that Luna was a high ranking officer and that she called in that squad for backup when things took a turn for the south. Still, it didn't look like she had the time to do that what with their unforeseen ally having her in check. Besides, If she were an officer, she wouldn't be traversing the battlefield on foot. The BRL wasn't dumb enough to be throwing their officers out into the fray without high-performance knightmare frames. The fact that Wendy had one only strengthened his argument. Speaking of Wendy, there was always the wild chance that she called the squadron in for backup. Unfortunately, that could have been it either - there was a surety Reid would have let him know if Wendy managed to call in backup.

Had that Squad arrived by a pure stroke of luck for their enemies? They could have just been passing by en route to another objective and just happened to be of assistance. Unfortunately, Lumen wasn't the type to put his bets on some chance happening like this.

There was one small thought floating in the back of his mind. They could have been there after Legato. Reid Legato was one of the most promising soldiers the Britannian Military had to offer - his training scores were proof of that alone. Hell, he had even managed to obtain Lumen's interest because of his skills. Not only that, Luna had shot to maim him instead of kill when it came to the boy. He was certain she could have eighty-sixed him on the spot had she wished it; she gave off the vibe that she definitely knew what she was doing with a rifle. Speaking of Wendy, Legato seemed to have some sort of relationship with her seeing as how they knew referred to each other by last name. Maybe Wendy had set out to have some of her goons retrieve Reid. Well for any matter, this entire scenario was unlikely but it wasn't completely out of question.

As Lumen was surrounded by the silence of his Knightmare frame cockpit, his mind was clouded with the thought of Reid. They had been friends in the past, in fact he was probably Lumen's closest friend at one point in time. They still may have been close friends if fate didn't deal them such terrible fates, but unfortunately it did. That frivolous childhood bond meant nothing to Lumen now. Despite this, he did slightly lament the fact that Reid might not be around anymore. Now he'd never get the chance to use the boy's expansive skillet to further his own goals.

If that chance of them arriving by chance was true, then they likely had no idea of who Reid was. In that case, they probably left him there to bleed out with the shape he was in. Lumen would be sure to take a trip back there to confirm if Reid's corpse was still there. He was feeling particularly generous today; the least he could do was bring Legato's corpse back to base so his family didn't have to have an empty casket. After all, Lumen was quite grateful to Reid for fulfilling his purpose as well as he did: he bit the bullet so Lumen could make it out of that fiasco unscathed.

With Reid's fate up in the air for the time being, Lumen decided to focus on the task at hand: catching up to Lerouge. He had to ensure that the prisoners - mainly Wendy - made it back to base. It wasn't long before an allied Knightmare frame popped up on Lumen's radar. Down below was a Vincent Sky travelling on foot, and what was more odd was that it was in autopilot mode. Even more abnormal was the fact that it was going it alone, with no comrades in sight. Well, it was travelling in the exact direction that Chase took off in; if he were a betting man, he'd place his cards on it being Lerouge. He had to wonder why the man would insist on travelling down here instead of skimming the skyline.

Lumen took his machine to the ground, matching the speed of his comrade to travel along side him.

"I've finally caught up with you Lerouge. Why is it that you are travelling down here? I believe our chance of escorting these two reprobates back to base is much higher when taking the skies. It would be quite inimical to both of our interests if these two were to escape. I do hope your machine is functioning in tip top shape."

Lumen paused, collecting himself before he decided to explain the situation with Reid, "On to more pressing matters. I was forced to retreat from my prior position as a sniper followed be a squadron of Knightmare frames arrived on the scene. Legato was wounded in the field of battle, and unfortunately I hadn't the time to rescue him when I was forced to make my leave. I know you see me nothing more than a perfidious coward that would turn on a comrade given the slightest chance, but I assure you I wouldn't abandon someone as promising as Legato, Lumen took a brief pause before spitting out more words in addition, "I'll elucidate upon my reasoning at a later date, but I do believe not all may be lost for the young man. There's a small chance that they may have captured him. Who knows, they may want to use him as a bargaining chip. It's certainly odd that an entire squad of Knightmares would show up for just two soldiers. Again, I'll go over my reasoning when those two scoundrels aren't privy to our conversation."

Chase LeRouge
Handsome Devil

Chase was never good in these tense situation. He wiped some heavy perspiration from his brow and feigned a smile, thinking back on how he used to crack at school whenever he had to stand before his class and make a presentation. His mother told him it was perfectly fine to nearly pee one's self under such duress, though that never sat well with him. He was a LeRouge. LeRouges were made of tougher stuff (or so his grandfather, who had a crippling fear of rabbits, always told him). So, he strived to change himself upon entering the military. Thankfully, his training prepared him for stuff like this. Well, not exactly; his instructors never mentioned turning his weapon on a pair of beautiful women, but those were the breaks. He would have to put aside his morals for the time being.

You're gonna make me bleed, huh?” he said to the one armed girl threatening him, humored. “Touchy, touchy. I'll have you know I've had women say far nastier things about me! I'm barely even tearing up! …Wait, why am I bragging about something like that?

Shaking his head, he kept his gun steadily trained on his captives. He couldn't blink first; that was exactly what the two women before him were waiting on.

The one armed girl (who showed a lot of spunk and honestly impressed Chase with her fearlessness) stated that there was no need for him to shoot. He could even do them a favor and just release them. His nose wrinkled; she had a lot of nerve.

Sorry, but neither one of you are as helpless as you would like me to believe. And while I would love to let you to go and ask you out for a candle light dinner, I'm afraid that's out of the question! Now then, why don't you both be good little girls and…

He wasn't sure if it was her plan or not to distract him with idle conversation, but by the time Chase realized the girl had thrown her knife at him, it was already whizzing dangerously close to his face. At the last second, he adjusted his head. It left a gash on his cheek but fortunately nothing more.

Oh shit! Not good! Not good

His Knightmare hadn't gotten off so easily. The knife managed to impale itself into the computer that controlled the autopilot. He watched it spark and smoke before rushing over to survey the damage. There was no need; his Knightmare lurched all about violently, sending him flying all over the cockpit.

Fly the sails! Man the anchor! Save the women and children!” he howled, grabbing onto his chair to for dear life. He shot a dirty look at the one armed woman, saying, “Well, I hope you're happy! Now we all get to die! You're one of those crazy chicks they talk about online, aren't you?! The kind that commit murder-suicides! Sometimes you just have to accept the circumstances for what they are! It's just not meant to be! I can't reciprocate your love!

He ducked, narrowly avoiding a falling monitor. He had to regain control of his Knightmare before he really did bite the big one. At the very least, the fact things couldn't possibly get any worse comforted him.

I've finally caught up with you LeRouge.

Or so he thought. He rammed his forehead into his chair at the sound of Lumen Sensatus' unmistakable voice. Out of all the people that could have shown up to help him, why did it have to be him?

No, no. It's alright, Chase. You need the back up. Just smile and take it.

Fortunately, it appearanced Lumen wasn't there to inform him of his incompetence as usual. He instead filled Chase in on all he missed since the two last saw one another. As he listened attentively, he understood what the BRL agent he heard on his radio earlier was talking about.

They've got my best friend?!” he said, mortified. Only the news of the homeland falling into enemy hands could make his heart sink any faster. “Oh, hell no! What the hell happened?! I wasn't even gone that long! Look, it'll be alright! We'll get the whole of the Britannian Military after Legato if we have to, but by god, we're going to get him back!

Lumen stating he didn't wish to discuss such a sensitive subject (and it was exactly that, with Chase sniffling at the idea of Reid being tortured in unspeakable ways) reminded Chase of the two women trying to kill him. He turned to them and laughed weakly, hoping they wouldn't claw out his eyes in the next ten seconds. He had lost his gun at some point while being thrown around like a pinball.

Uh…Lumen? Do me a favor and get down here as soon as possible. My Knightmare isn't really on the up and up, if you get my drift. It's…uh…not a cut above the rest. Wink wink. What I'm trying to say is that it would be nice if you could take a stab at helping me out with our prisoners. WINK WINK. I would do it myself, but I can't really give it a shot. WINK. WINK.

Yeah, I'm sure he'll get the message.
